Our main team consists of employees, interns and extremely dedicated volunteers. They take care of the overall project management, partnerships, teaching methods, communications and social media and other important tasks to keep our program running.
Vincent van Grondelle
Co-Founder, Program Manager & Social Worker
Vincent is the co-founder and current program manager of the MigraCode Barcelona program, and through his experience with this, he has profound knowledge of the tech sector, open education and working with refugees and migrants. He also has a background in social work which he also uses to support MigraCode students. He is responsible for managing more than a 100 volunteers, overseeing the work of the main MigraCode team, maintaining close links with other NGOs in and around Barcelona, organising small to large events, coordinating our European partnerships, and developing and extending Corporate Social Responsibility relationships with partners from the tech sector. With a background in social work, data analysis, nonprofit management, political science and philosophy, his focus has always been on combating structural inequities and bringing people together to make a positive social impact in society.
Head of Education
With years of experience as a teacher in non-formal schools in India, Yogi started as a volunteer instructor at MigraCode while being a full-time Master’s student himself. He has shown impeccable organizational and student management skills which comes with working hundreds of hours in classrooms with adolescents. He is a graduate of Business Management with a Master in Software Engineering. In March 2021, he started at MigraCode as Head of Education, being responsible for managing all our coding classes, organizing all our technical volunteers, supporting our students on a one-to-one basis, managing our education team, updating and further developing our open-source coding curriculum and implementing new and improved teaching methods. His unique combined experience in Management, Computer Science and Education for underprivileged children and vulnerable communities makes him an extremely important team member.
Carlos Sanchez Heil
While being CTO at WATTABIT, Carlos started as a technical volunteer at MigraCode, having had over 10 years of experience in Technology and Innovation Companies as R&D Engineer, with a background in Software Development and Project Management. He has a Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering and he has worked in various tech companies, giving him tons of knowledge of the tech sector. In March 2020, he started at MigraCode as a Head of Education, being responsible for managing all our coding classes, organizing all our technical volunteers, supporting our students on a one-to-one basis, manage our educational team, updating and further developing our open-source coding curriculum and implementing new and improved teaching methods. His unique combined experience with IT and education for vulnerable communities makes him an extremely important team member.
Partnerships & Communications
Marta joined MigraCode as a trainee, supporting us with a wide range of tasks to grow and improve our program. She has a wide range of experience in communications and education, and she is a Master’s graduate at the London School of Economics in Culture and Society. From December 2020, Marta is responsible for finding and maintaining new partnerships, both with nonprofits as well as with corporate organisations. She also collaborates closely with volunteers and trainees to manage all our social media and reach out to potential future students and partners via these platforms. Last but not least: as a published writer in La Vanguardia, she also creates content for our website, including interviews with students and volunteers.
Our Mental Health Care Team
When students need support with other aspects in their lives, we have various professionals – some employed, some volunteering – supporting our students on a practical and psychological level.

While our instructors volunteer to teach coding, our employability volunteers help our students through many other ways. They help students with preparing for job interviews, improving their CV and LinkedIn, understanding the tech sector better and guiding them through their tech career.
