Volunteering at Migracode
Do you want to volunteer at our school and gain both valuable cultural experience as well as professional teaching experience? Then Migracode is looking for you!
Just a few requirements
Experience in any of the modules that we offer on our course. You can find all the possible modules where you could help in our GitHub currículum here.
Past experience teaching or mentoring is a plus, but is not required! We are open for anyone who wants to help and we would love to include you in our community.
A good level of English is required to help/teach at Migracode Barcelona. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but keep in mind that the full course is in English, including the materials.
What’s in it for you?
Migracode offers you many things:
- You will contribute to improving the lives of others through tech education
- You will become better expert of your own craft by teaching your knowledge
- You will be exposed to different cultures and different ways of thinking & working
- You will become a part of Migracode’s professional network, including tech Meetups, companies, NGO’s and other professional developers
The volunteering possibilities
Teaching a full module for three weeks
We offer the possibility of a full teaching experience. This means you will teach one full module for three weeks. When you choose this option, we would ask you to be at both 4-hour weekly classes for the length of the module.
Supporting when you can
If you don’t have time to be a main instructor, you can choose to come whenever it suits you to support the main instructor during a class. This can be one time or as many times as you want! We offer you a lot of flexibility.
Provide one-two-one’s to students
When you are available, you can offer one-two-one’s to our students, where on a personal level, you help them with the materials and give them the confidence and knowledge they need to work in tech.
Check homework from home or your work
If you cannot support in our classes or with one-two-ones, you can join our Slack and receive notifications from new homework submissions, on which you can leave feedback through Slack and Github.
